Fasting changes when you eat and drink, so planning your meals and medication matters.
Build a balanced suhoor and iftar
Choose slow-release carbohydrates, protein, fruit and vegetables at suhoor to stay fuller for longer. Break your fast gently with water and dates, then a balanced meal rather than heavy fried food.
Supplements that may help
- A daily multivitamin to fill gaps when meal variety drops
- Electrolytes or ORS if you feel light-headed after long, hot days
- Fibre supplements if your digestion slows down
Medication during fasting
If you take medicines for diabetes, blood pressure or other long-term conditions, speak to your doctor or one of our pharmacists before Ramadan. Timings and doses may need to change, and some people are advised not to fast.
